Get answers to your frequently-asked questions

There's a lot of jargon associated with the window and door industry. If you're new to window and door installation, or you'd like to find out more information before you schedule a consultation, read some frequently-asked questions below.

A: The R factor measures the resistance of the insulated glass unit to heat flow. A high R factor window has a greater resistance to heat flow and thus, a higher insulating value than a window with a low R factor.

Q: What is R factor?

A: U value is a measure of the rate of nonsolar heat loss or gain through a material or assembly. Tests are usually performed under conditions that simulate 0 degrees outside and 70 degrees inside with a 15mph wind. The lower the U-value, the greater a window's resistance to heat flow and thus the better its insulating value. Also, the U-value can be determined as the inverse of the R-factor.

A: Please remember that your windows are custom-made for an exact fit into the existing opening in your home. The meticulous work is performed in the factory, making the installation process less disruptive and time-consuming. Most jobs require only one to two days to complete. Dave will be able to advise you on this when he visits you to perform an estimate.

Q: How long will the work take?

A: There are a few helpful things that you can do prior to your installation. For instance, if you can, please remove draperies and blinds from the windows being replaced, and when possible, move any furniture that might be near the window being replaced.

Q: Do I need to do anything before the installation?

A: ee-z-kleen is an advanced, protective glass treatment that is factory-applied to all of the glass surfaces of your windows. This treatment makes your windows "hydrophobic" which means they become dust and water repellent. This makes them considerably easier to clean than regular windows.

Q: What is ee-z-kleen?

A: The super spacer system is a thermoset-foam, non-metallic spacer system that provides some of the very best performance in the industry. It provides additional energy savings, sound protection, condensation resistance, and unsurpassed durability.

Q: What are the benefits of “super spacer”?

A: Dave believes these products complement his business better than any other brands available. All windows and doors installed by us have proven durability, have excellent cold weather performance and include options to fit almost every situation.

Q: Why do we sell only a few select products?
